We all know that there are so many markets in Thailand you can find street markets, floating markets, food markets, night markets and many many others.. But there is one in 75 kilometers away from Bangkok (it’s approximately 1 hour drive) that definitely stands out. It’s called the Maeklong Railway Market. So why is it so special? Well, this market is located along the railways, and it almost fully covers the tracks, while few times a day a train comes straight through the market between vendors stalls. So close that you even can touch it. And if you really like visiting new places and enjoy exploring different cultures then you should definitely come here. This market has everything that we used to see and love in local markets fruits, vegetables, seafood, fresh and dried food, snacks, clothing, flowers and many more. But most people come here just to experience this unique attraction which you can’t find anywhere else in Thailand. And you better be ready to see a lot of tourists here. I mean really a lot. So you better arrive to the market early morning and don’t forget about drinking water as it is quite hot inside. As soon as you will hear a warning bell – try to find a good spot near the tracks because the train arrives in few minutes after that signal. You will see vendors start pulling back their awnings and now is the time for making those extraordinary photos and videos.. Once the train passed the vendors will immediately put the awnings back into their original position and continue their business as if nothing special had happened, and in few seconds it will be hard to believe this is actually an operating railway line. The Market is open from 6.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. Arrival time and departure time you can find in the description of the video Trains arrive at the station 7 days a week, so you can visit it any day. The most comfortable way to get to Maeklong Railway station is a private car or a taxi. If you travel with a company – it won’t be too expensive. Otherwise you can take a van at the Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) or the Northern Bus Terminal (near to Mo Chit BTS) and a ticket will cost you less 100 THB. There is Amphawa floating market in just a ten minute ride from the station. Find a songthaews (local pick-up taxi) and they will bring you there for 20 baht or even less. Amphawa is another great market to explore, with plenty nice quiet restaurants where you could enjoy nice views and extremely delicious seafood Well guys, that’s it.
