Somwarpete’s Honnamana kere(Lake), come let us see come friends, today we are going to Coorg districts, Somwarpet taluk Somwarpets speciality is everywhere you turn its filled with greenery, cool climate and very little people population As per 2001 census the population here is a mere 7000 and in that almost 75 % people are educated here When you plan a holiday you find crowd everywhere all bookings are full, so no place to stay if you feel that there are too many people at everyplace you go to see for such people Somwarpet is the ideal place for visit. Why? because There are many beautiful places to see here also less tourist come here also to stay there are many Home stays are easily available The languagues spoken here are Kannada, Are Bhashe, Kodava, Beary bashe and english Coffee is the major crop in the region especially Arabica coffee is largely grown in this region along with coffee, pepper, cardamom, orange, vanilla, Rice, ginger is also grown here Somwarpet Taluk is between mountains and hills so all around the year the climate here is nice and cool best time to visit is between August to March end 8 kms from here is the Beelur Golf club it is surrounded by lush greener and is a favorite spot for movie shootings 13 kms from here is the Malemalleshwara Betta grand Pooja is done on the occasion of Maha Shiva Rathri 33kms from here is Kotebetta The hill looks like a fort and hence known as Kote(Fort) hill 25 kms from here is Makkalagudi Betta The cow herd Children created this beautiful temple Thus it got the name of Makkalagudi Betta 18 kms from here is the Harangi Dam Harangi river later joins Kaveri river When the Dam is filled and the gates are opened the view of the water flowing out is amazing to see 20kms from here is the Mallalli Falls There Kumaradhara river falls 200 feet down, creating a splectar view 7 Kms from here is Honnamana Kere Now we are going to that place 7 Kms from Somwarapet this serene and holy lake is located This is also Kodagu districts biggest Lake Every year during Gowri festival special pooja is done to Honnama Devi Honnama Devi for the welfare of the people here, sacrificed here life is the belief here In honor of Honnama Devi this temple was built here near the lake is Gavi betta, Mori betta and such hills are around it the hill you see behind me is Gavi betta on top of it is a Cave and a temple During Gowri and Ganesha festival, they have fair there Village people go up the hill and at this temple the festival is celebrated At that time if possible will come and make a video of it.
