Hello friends, welcome to our channel Toursnfoods.
Today we are going to share a 4 days tour plan of Vaishno Devi Temple and Amritsar.
Vaishno Devi Mandir is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Hindu Goddess Mata Adi Shakti and Amritsar
is a beautiful city in Indian state Punjab mostly popular for Golden Temple. So, without
further ado, let’s start. Day-1 To visit Vaishno Devi Temple first reach Katra.
Katra is well connected by train, bus or air from the other parts of the country. The nearest
railway station of Katra is Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station. You can avail a train
that directly reaches Katra or you may first reach New Delhi and from there avail Vande
Bharat express to reach Katra. In this tour, we first reached New Delhi and
from there took Vande Bharat express to reach Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. Vande Bharat
Express is a semi high-speed train that runs between New Delhi and Katra. The train departs
from New Delhi at 5.55 am and reaches Katra at 2 Pm. It is a fully air-conditioned express
train and the train will provide breakfast and lunch. The ticket fare of this train is
Rs1545 including food. The train route passes through the beautiful mountains and this is
a remarkable journey which we enjoyed a lot. If you are traveling by bus then you can get
one from New Delhi or Amritsar. The nearest airport of Katra is Jammu. From
there reach Katra by road. Time taken in this case will be around one and half hours. Upon reaching Katra check in to your hotel.
We stayed at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine guest house. The charges here are Rs100 per bed. Day-2 On day-2, of your tour start your journey
towards Vaishno Devi Temple from Katra. The distance of the temple from Katra is around
15Km. You can reach the temple on foot. Otherwise, you can avail of a horse ride, a duli from
Banganga or you may hire a battery-operated car ride from Ardhakumari. The car fare is
Rs387 per head. If you are traveling with a horse, duli or car then you have to get
down 1km ahead of the temple and cover the rest of your journey on foot.
Before you start walking you have to deposit your mobile, camera, and other leather belongings
to the temple locker because these things are strictly prohibited inside the temple. We preferred walking and we started our journey
at around 6.30 pm and reached the temple at 12.30 am. If you wish you can start your journey
in the morning also. The road to Vaishno Devi temple from Katra is well maintained and is
a high-security zone. We enjoyed this walk. There are plenty of food stalls on the side
of this road where you can have food. If you wish you can have your food at the Langar
of Vaishno Devi temple which is free of any charges. At the Langar, you will get delicious
dal chawal, halwa and tea for lunch or dinner without any charges. The place is very neat
and clean. After crossing the Langer you will come to
a shop from where you can purchase Puja offerings. Since we have to deposit our mobile and camera
at the temple locker, we will not be able to show you any picture of this Temple ahead
of this point. After finishing our Temple visit, we started
our journey back to Banganga at around 2 am and reached the destination at around 6.30
am. Day-3 On day-3 morning, after returning from Vaishno
Devi Temple take some rest and after lunch start your journey towards Amritsar. Amritsar
is connected to Katra by train, bus or reserved car. The distance of Amritsar from Katra is
around 260Km and it will take around 9hours to reach Amritsar from Katra by bus. We went
there by bus. Day-4 On day-4 morning go for a local sightseeing
tour in Amritsar. We hired a local auto-rickshaw for this tour and it charged Rs1000 from us
for this day-long tour. On this day first, visit Durgiana Temple.
This temple is close to the Amritsar railway station and bus terminus. It is a Hindu shrine
and the main deity here is Goddess Durga. Other than Goddess Durga, Goddess Lakhsmi
and God Narayan are also idolized here and worshipped. The temple is also known as Lakshmi
Narayan Temple. The architecture of this temple is like the Golden Temple. After completing your Temple visit you can
have your breakfast at the local food stall located just outside the Temple. They serve
delicious Puri-Sabji and sweets. From Durgiana Temple go to visit the famous
Jallianwala Bagh memorial. It is a historical garden and also a memorial of national importance.
It is the place where the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre occurred on 13th April 1919
at the festival of Vaisakhi. On that day, General Dyer of the British Indian Army ordered
his troop to open fire at this place into a crowd of unarmed Indian civilians that killed
at least 400 people. At present, the place has a museum and some
memorial structures. From Jallianwala Bagh go to visit nearby Golden
Temple. It is the most famous tourist place in Amritsar. The place is locally popular
as Harmandir Sahib meaning ‘abode of God”. This Temple is built around a manmade Lake
that was finished by Guru Ram Das. This temple is the most important shrine in Sikhism. It
is an open house of worship for all men and women.
At this place you can have your lunch at the famous Golden Temple Langar. The Golden Temple
Langar is a place where you can see a huge number of people working together and enjoying
themselves. The langar serves thousands of devotee everyday by offering them food without
any charges. We had our lunch there. We had Roti, Tarka, Chole, and Halwa. The food was
mouth-watering. From here go to see the beating retreat ceremony
at the Attari Wagha Border. This is lowering of the flags ceremony and a daily military
practice that the security forces of India (Border Security Force, BSF) and Pakistan
(Pakistan Rangers) have jointly followed since 1959. In the evening you can roam around the local market and enjoy
some shopping. If you have time then try to visit the temple once at night also. The
Golden Temple looks mesmerizing at night when all the temple lightened up. At this time you can see a special practice where
the Holy Granth-Sahib was taken to a vault from the Temple inside. Day-5 On day 5 head back to the airport or railway
station for departure. For total package cost and other booking information
